When you come for a ride with us at Horseback Yellowstone, enjoy dinner at a Cowboy Cookout barbecue, or make a full day of it with whitewater rafting and saddle time on the same day ~ you're experiencing first-hand a partnership between the Johnson family at Hells A-Roarin' Ranch, and Flying Pig Adventures and the Faerbers in Gardiner, Montana.
Your ride or activity with us is made possible by the dedication of these two local families, along with their experienced crews, to bring authentically western, safe and fun vacation activities to visitors coming to experience the north Yellowstone area.
Visiting Yellowstone Park from the historic northeast entrance is a uniquely western experience ~ one where your local hosts have ranched in this beautiful area for generations.
Partners and mentors such as the Yellowstone Association - dedicated to historic and natural preservation of Yellowstone National Park, the National Park Service rangers that reside in the Gardiner/Jardine area, the local Chamber, and numerous outfitters, horsemen and service providers; all assist in making these rides, activities and pack trips possible for you to enjoy.
To assist you in planning your vacation; making an advanced horseback riding reservation with us is an easy, modern experience. You can check availability, reserve and pay for most of our horseback rides and activities in a few simple clicks ~ and get an instant email confirmation, with detailed directions, visitor information and riding tips.
Or, feel free to call us directly if you'd rather speak to one of our Camp Store staff ~ all Gardiner area locals well versed in area services and activities. You'll find our crew a great source of visitor and travel information whether you're starting your Yellowstone Park visit from here, ending here or just passing through the Gardiner/Jardine area.
Based in Gardiner, the Yellowstone Association is a non-profit group dedicated to the preservation of Yellowstone National Park through education. The Association provides park tours, classes, exhibits, and sponsors numerous books and guides for visitors and supporters.
Horseback Yellowstone / Flying Pig Adventures is proud to work with the Association and are enriched by their support, resources and programs. We encourage our guests to take some time to visit the Yellowstone Association store or engage in one of their many learning programs offered throughout the season.

Yes, the Internet is a wonderful thing. Without it you'd likely not know about horseback riding in the north Yellowstone area, or rafting the remote Yellowstone river as it leaves the park in Gardiner, Montana.
Truth is, that our little Montana town, even though only a horseshoe's throw from America's first national park and the historic north entrance, isn't as busy as West Yellowstone in Idaho, or upscale Jackson Wyoming (even though Jackson's 2 hours from the park). So before the web, we small-town western outfitters relied on visitors searching the path-less-traveled, and locals from nearby Bozeman and Billings.
But today, you have direct access to us here right at the park's north gate in Gardiner ~ allowing us the chance to show off our unique and authentic Yellowstone vacation options you won't find elsewhere.
Now if we can just resolve the Mac vs PC rivalry between the ranch and the Camp Store without a shootout.
